Echo of the Evercry is out!

I was walking in the rain when out of the shrouded mists came a haunting nursery rhyme, something that made me drop everything, on the sidewalk, to scrabble for my phone, turn off the playlist, and write. I couldn’t get home fast enough. Within the next twenty five days a full novel poured out of me like it had always existed and just needed to be written.

And it wasn’t… terrible. I knew it needed work, and miraculously won a developmental edit from Meg Trast who’s inspiration will stay with me forever;

“Not everyone will like this story, but those who do will love it, and never forget it.”

Those words kept me going through beta reads and query trenches until it found itself with Literary Wanderlust. I wasn’t sure there was an editor who this book would be a good fit for. But when Jennica and I spoke, the strangest thing happened. She was wearing a leather bracelet that I also happened to have, and you might think nothing of it, but she lived in the US and I live in Australia. When she told me how she wanted to tackle Evercry I was nervous and excited.

But it was a long time ago. This book taught me the importance of plotting in a way no other book has, but also about me as a writer. I had written Larissa’s story so close to my own personality that I hadn’t realised until it was over what I’d done.

I’d written an autistic character. Not intentionally. Not with concious thought.

But it was there in the final stages of editing and proofing. The years that it’d taken to put this book together. The thought hit me so hard I’m still not sure I want people to read it knowing that. But that’s who this book was for, and that’s why the dedication is for those people Meg Trast spoke of, the ones she was sure would find it;

The book is available now at most books stores or on Amazon and there are heaps of good things said about it on Goodreads too! In celebration I am doing a giveaway on my Tiktok account as well…

This ring has a special significance in the book and as such I want a reader to share that with me. If you head over to my Tiktok page and comment on the video you enter a chance to win a copy of my book, and the ring, sent to anywhere in the world along with some home grown goodies!
